The Senior Accounting Consultant is a central role that partners with stakeholders across Caterpillar to optimize General Ledger and Fixed Assets processes, develop and maintain best in class systems and tools, and enhance governance and controls to support both General Ledger and Fixed Assets cycles, managing risk and exposure across reporting and compliance.
This position part of the Corporate Financial Systems Team, is an integral part of governing, developing, and implementing General Ledger and Fixed Assets solutions worldwide.
This individual will work independently, as well as within a large team environment (matrix-oriented structure), to deliver world-class process and technology solutions in support of the business needs.
The position is responsible for maintaining and enhancing governance over Caterpillars global General Ledger and Fixed Assets design, to ensure scalability and implementation consistency and reducing cost of ownership.
This role will also be responsible for the design elements of the existing and future General Ledger and Fixed Assets compliance/strategic initiative projects to ensure sustainability and integrity of our process and systems.
JOB DUTIES:

Serve as a subject matter expert for the General Ledger and Fixed Asset areas that will provide direction during process and system design activities and assist in resolving business process issues arising from financial systems implementations.

Ensure Value Realization through financial systems implementation and process improvement to maximize value to internal customers and stakeholders.

Work with business partners to standardize, simplify, and optimize total cost of ownership.

Actively participate in blueprinting, review, and approve all design elements for existing and future General Ledger and Fixed Assets Applications compliance/strategic initiative projects.

Drive the future strategy for the global GL and FA functions through General Ledger and Fixed Assets Applications development and modernization.

Own General Ledger and Fixed Assets Applications, and overall health of the application portfolio.

Governs new requirements for changes in processes and technology.

Liaison between technology and process teams and the General Ledger and Fixed Assets Process Owners, representing the Process Owners during financial systems design/re-design activities.

Serves as trusted Advisor with ERP General Ledger and Fixed Assets Implementations/Functions, including support to ensure financial reporting integrity on systems cutover.

Design, architect, and validate testing of system and process solutions related to General Ledger and Fixed Assets functions.

Definition of internal control requirements, including Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) control documentation.

Guide and/or validate process documentation as part of the General Ledger and Fixed Assets ERPs template(s) solutions.

Provide leadership and education for the General Ledger and Fixed Assets cycles.

Work on a matrix-oriented organization, and lead small cross functional teams.

Assist / lead the integration of focus facilities, new acquisitions and ventures, and/or new clients into corporate practices.

Developing methodology and providing education to accounting and non-accounting staffs and cross-functional teams.

Communicating / consulting to broader (worldwide) audience on financial accounting issues and/or financial systems matters.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Qualifications:

7
years of relevant job experience in Accounting or related field
4-year degree in Accounting or Business degree
Demonstrates leadership, problem-solving, interpersonal, and communication skills
Flexibility to work in a global environment
Must demonstrate high levels of initiative, leadership, good judgment, the ability to communicate effectively, a broad understanding of accounting business processes, process improvement
Understanding and practical knowledge of SAP and other financial systems.
Qualifications:

SAP delivery experience
SAP Certification
Professional Certification (CPA, CMA or equivalent)
