Electrical Engineer

Provides technical expertise related to lighting, building automation system software, sensors and controllers, energy efficiency initiatives and similar technologies. Serves as a team leader or team member during the planning, design, construction, and operations of OSF Healthcare System facilities.
Coordinates and ensures effective and timely communications related to the development and implementation of standards, and commissioning processes to the leadership and staff of the OSF Facilities Management and Construction Division.
Assists project teams with life cycle cost assessments, contract review, cost estimating, design review, and commissioning process functions.
Provides consulting services to OSF Healthcare System Operating Units and Ministry Divisions including Hospital Administration, Facility Managers, Designers, and Construction Managers on matters pertaining to electrical systems, electrical safety, energy efficiency, sustainability, standards, and commissioning processes.
REQUIRED
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering with 3-5 years' experience in computer technologies, building control networks, programming and documentation, building commissioning, electrical engineering, project management, sustainability, energy efficiency, energy management and/or continuous commissioning processes.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team or serve as a team leader on multiple projects in a fast paced environment.
Must be detail oriented, organized, and have excellent communication and organizational skills.
Experience with various regulatory agencies and requirements such as OSHA, EPA, NFPA 99, NFPA 101, ADA, IDPH, Michigan Department of Consumer and Industry Services, Division of Health Facilities and Services, Health facilities Evaluation Section, NFPA Life Safety Codes, ASHRAE 90.1, ASHRAE 170, Energy Star Certification, Illinois Energy Conservation Code, and Illinois and Michigan building codes.
Strong computer skills including familiarity/experience with: Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Access, SQL-compatible databases, CAD, and common web-based applications such as those used for Project Management and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
Analytical skills for evaluating design specifications, submittal review, shop drawing review, sustainability reviews, and test reports.
Understanding of energy conservation, sustainability initiatives, Total Project Commissioning (Cx) and Retro-Project Commissioning (RCx) processes related to planning, design, construction, and operations of building systems.
Strong understanding of Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning (HVAC) technologies and systems, electronic Building Automation Systems (BAS) utilizing Direct Digital Control (DDC) strategies, Energy Management Controls & Automation (EMC&A), fire alarm systems, air quality and environmental monitoring systems, energy-efficient electrical lighting systems, electrical power distribution and emergency generation systems, low-voltage system requirements with Group 1 and Group 2 medical equipment, advanced energy technology equipment, and the integration of complex mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) system space considerations.
Strong organizational and communicative skills, as well as the ability to comply with procedures and exercise good judgment.
Interpersonal skills to develop and maintain working relationship with Operating Unit administrators, department heads and staff as well as designers, vendors and contractors.
Understanding of building, industry and healthcare codes with the ability to research, interpret and apply to construction projects.
